What exactly does a celebrant do?

A celebrant creates and leads personalised ceremonies for significant life events—such as weddings, funerals, naming ceremonies, vow renewals, and more. We work closely with you to craft a ceremony that reflects your values, beliefs, and story. The ceremony is entirely tailored to you, whether it’s light-hearted and romantic, formal and respectful, or something entirely unique.

Can celebrants legally marry people?

This depends on where you live. In some countries (like Australia), celebrants can legally register marriages. In others (like the UK), celebrants conduct the ceremony, while the legal paperwork is completed separately at a registry office. Many couples choose to do the legal side quietly, then enjoy a full, personalised celebrant-led wedding with family and friends.

Are celebrant ceremonies religious?

They can be—but they don’t have to be. Celebrants offer complete flexibility. You can have a religious, spiritual, secular, or mixed-faith ceremony. Some celebrants also specialise in humanist (non-religious) ceremonies. The choice is entirely yours.

Where can a celebrant ceremony take place?

Anywhere you like! That’s one of the biggest benefits of choosing a celebrant. Ceremonies can be held in gardens, parks, beaches, barns, hotels, forests, or even your own living room. You're not restricted to licensed venues or religious buildings.

Can we include personal vows, music, or rituals?

Absolutely! Celebrant-led ceremonies are built around your preferences. You can include vows, readings, symbolic gestures (like handfasting, candle lighting, or sand blending), music, and anything else that reflects your personality or heritage.

How do we find the right celebrant?

Start by reading reviews, exploring their website, and arranging a chat. It’s important that you feel comfortable, heard, and connected. Your celebrant should be someone who understands your vision and communicates clearly.
